FAMILIAR MOVES
By G. Rene Colls

L looked down upon the game and smiled at the position of his pieces. Proudly, He reached down and touched a woman having a child on the island nation of Sri Lanka, and gave her a new idea. Then He turned to D a grinned broadly.

D studied the game. Her eyes widened as the strategy became clear. It was brilliant. She sacrificed a penalty on the game clock for a glance ahead. Beaming, L told Her to look forward a mere quarter century. When She did, She saw the all the right people in power points, all the right resources protected, all the right goals set in motion. The pieces would conquer the entire galaxy in time.

She nodded appreciatively. Reaching down, She made her move. She touched the comet and veered it a mere two degrees. L didn’t have to look ahead to see where it would fall in 25 years.

Not again! That was the second time this game! L calmed Himself and looked at the game. She didn’t have many more comets to sacrifice, and fifty million years were left on the game clock. Okay, then.

He reached down and touched one of the dolphins, giving it a new idea.
